About Lorenzo Boccabella
After more than 35 years of practice in law I specialise in migration law and administrative law. I was admitted as a barrister in 1980 after completing a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland.
Since then I have conducted cases in every Tribunal and Court dealing with migration matters including the High Court, all Federal Courts, all the migration tribunals (now the Administrative Appeals Tribunal) in Australia.
I have been involved in a number of ground breaking cases. I also deal with criminal matters involving migration. I give extensive advice on visas and all migration matters including for employers (with matters from all over Australia and the world). The areas I most regularly advise on are:

• Complex partner visas, where one partner has been refused

As a migration lawyer, I give oral advice, written advice, advise on visa applications or advise on a visa refusal or cancellation or pending refusal or cancellation. I advise employers on all aspects of employing foreign employees.
I also give advice and appear as an expert witness in court on migration law. For example I appeared in the Family Court to give evidence of the visa and residence options of one of the parties to a marriage in a case involving an application by a parent who claimed her Australian migration status made it difficult for her to work or survive in Australia, the case being about her intention to take a child to live in a country other than Australia. I also give advice on professional negligence in migration law.
I have been a guest lecturer in Migration and Administrative law at Queensland University of Technology, Griffith University, Brooklyn University (in New York City), the Migration Institute of Australia, the Queensland Bar Association, Bar Practice Course, Qld, New South Wales Bar Association, the Law Council of Australia, the San Francisco Bar Association and the University of Parma in Italy.
Because of my migrant background, I speak Italian. I am competent in French, have passive knowledge of Spanish.
Through my legal practice I also obtained qualifications as an arbitrator and mediator and have retained that as an aspect of my practice.
I am available to assist clients in matters involving Italian law.
To appear in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, I am also a registered migration agent (9580738) and it is required by law that I place a link to the Code of Conduct.
